In 2019, we said “I do” in Iowa and set off on a new adventure in Noah’s hometown of Connecticut. Mary, a lifelong suburban girl, needed a little convincing to embrace the idea of country life, while Noah had always dreamed of building a homestead. We found a tucked-away piece of land surrounded by woods and a flowing brook, where our small but meaningful dream began. We called it Timberbrook Farm—a nod to the landscape and a promise to start building a simpler, more intentional life.
At Timberbrook, we started with just a few goats, chickens, and a modest garden. The brook provided a peaceful soundtrack to our early mornings, and the woods became our backdrop for learning the ropes of homesteading. It was small, but it was ours—a place where we learned that life is better when it’s slower and shared.
In 2021, a new job brought us to North Carolina. We moved into a rental home in the suburbs with two young daughters, Margo and Ava, continuing to homestead in whatever ways we could. In 2023, we welcomed our son, Ben, the next addition to our growing family.
By 2023, we were blessed with a new homestead and rebranded as Fidelis Terra (Faithful Land in Latin) Farm—a name that reflects our faith, family, and future. Here, we embrace tradition while making room for modern technology, living out the best of both worlds.
