You might be wondering “Why Timberbrook? What does that have anything to do with their name?” Can’t blame you for asking. The short answer, who the heck wants to remember how to pronounce AND spell Vertefeuille? (pronounced Vert-i-fay. Like vertebrae but with a “f”) But I’m not here to just give you the short answer. I may as well explain a bit more about Noah and mine’s story and just how we decided upon the Timberbrook Family name.
We bought our first home just four months before our wedding in January 2019. Noah grew up on a small hobby farm in northeast Connecticut while I grew up in a small-ish town in a sweet neighborhood in Southern Minnesota. Noah was determined to own 10 acres in the middle of nowhere and I wanted to be near civilization, or as I like to say, within 20 minutes of the closest Target. Luckily for us, our first home was the perfect combination.

This sweet little 1950’s, 1100 square foot ranch sat on 4 acres on a busy road in a small town of about 6000 people. It was older, needed some love after being flipped, but we were so incredibly in love. Our home was perfect in every way. Right from the start, we began creating our homestead, not knowing how long this home would last.
Throughout our time in this house, we welcomed many animals to our property, including goats and chickens, built and planted garden beds with a variety of produce, cut down numerous trees (many times, because Noah had a “I’m going through a early-twenties crisis” and need to break something” kinda day.), cleared our land of overgrown weeds and bittersweet, mulched gardens, planted apple trees, replaced the 50 year old windows with new, vinyl ones, renovated the shed at the bottom of our hill, & created hundreds of memories.

Noah taught me the importance of becoming self sufficient while owning land. He showed me how to be resourceful with what we had in our own backyard and how that can make major impacts on our future. Our hope was to do just that on this 4 acre land.
We didn’t stop there. We aimed to name our homestead Timberbrook Farms and had ideas in the back of our head for how we could take what we enjoyed and create a brand to share with others.
Right as things were getting ramped up, Noah was offered a new opportunity in North Carolina that required us to leave our beloved homestead behind. Just after only about 3 years, we had to pack our home, put it on the market, and bring our memories and name with us to a new adventure.
Our homestead sold in just four days, something so incredibly bittersweet. Noah and I loved our home but knew our next adventure and future of Timberbrook Farms was ahead of us, waiting to be started again.

We have BIG hopes, dreams, and plans for the Timberbrook Farms 2.0, whenever & wherever that may be! For now, we are so excited to do what we can in our small rental, keeping the spirit of Timberbrook Farms alive in all that we do.
